Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
