A person who spiked treats with tranquilliser and gave them to children at a summer camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males who were nine and ten years old.
The accused was detained after eight minors and one adult became sick at Stathern Lodge in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the courthouse on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was charged with, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was held in detention before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.
Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court Ruben had played this game with the children "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She stated the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had concerns in July 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "This year his family member had worries about what was going on, for good reason.
"They resolved" to examine in the individual's items."
The legal counsel said items including infant oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson contacted the police about his worries.
She explained Ruben continued to conduct the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - that Saturday - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the events.
The prosecutor explained the children were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson called the authorities once more.
She said the man then engaged in the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
